Most likely you have too many background slugware tasks like your AV program scanning all the temporary files being created.
Try it in safe mode. If that is fast, then disable all startups you dont really need.
Or your DNS server is slow.. Then get DNS tester from GRC.com and find better DNS servers.
Or use the DNS ping tester from same site and test for packet loss.
I haven't used any AV software suites for over 10 years and use Ublock original as a firewall for browser ads ,and kiddie scripts. THen IF I happen to get adware from some download I forgot to scan at virustotal.com, I'll scan with AWDcleaner and I'm golden. I only use Winpatrol and startup.exe to monitor changes to registry for autoruns on next boot, to alert me right away if something I didn't expect gets installed that runs on boot every time.
I can fix infected machines in 10 to 20 minutes and the best AV suites still only catch 98% of a sample of trojans/worms at best !, So I take the approach why slow down everything if I can fix it fast IF I get infected.
Always have backups and go lean and mean.
My average page fetch from
**broken link removed** is about 2 seconds on 30Mbps averaged over 1 minute, Ignoring bloated pages that means pages get loaded from 0.1s to a few seconds each and I ignore dead links.
Also Chrome could have excessively slow addons. I prefer Firefox and have tried over 20 different browsers.
