interfacing DSP Processor with GSM Modem??

is that possible to interface DSP with GSM modem to make the DSP give some orders like lighting control or any kind of control ?

and is that possible for the DSP to make control over somthing ??

or should i use Microcontroller instead??

If you can communicate with Gsm modem using any processor , your purpose will be served.
