interfacing 89C51 to L298 for Stepper motors

89c4051 stepper controller

1. I want to use a stepper motor in my project,but am not able to decide which motor to select plz help..........
specifications:-to pull 1kg of weight. by 1 cm.
small in size

2. want to control the stepper motor using 89C51 through L298....is it possible to do that..if yes HoW??

3. How to do microstepping in such case ?

actually am new to this subject..this is my first work with motors...so i really dont know the technical terms..so in lay mnas terms:-
1 i dont know how to interface 89c51 to l298

2. i dont know what kind of current rating to be selected for a motor and how does that affect its working?

3. i know what is microstepping but dont know how to actually do it?

plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help...........
