Try to extract SOFTLOAD.TAR manually
tar xvf SOFTLOAD.TAR in directory where you plan to install CADENCE, then from this directory run ./softload and follow the instruction.

softload.tar

I solved this problem by editing the softload script -- replacing 'tar' with 'tar -p'. Then run the script with root or fakeroot.

could not set up softload in cadence

Hello, I had the same problem in ubuntu 7.10, solved :), now the installation stops due to the following problem

symbol errno, version GLIBC_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference

I've seen this problem in many forums, for which the solution is

export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1

still doesn't work, I looked for the kernel I have (uname -r) and put that but still doesn't work, do I have to install the GLIBC??? if so, the oldest I found wasn't exactly the 2.0, it was the 2.0.7, does it work any ways??? is the installation of GLIBC the solution to my problem??? please help!!!!

cadence on debian

Use low version KERNEL or u can't use export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 unless u complier this characteristic yourself but it's complex.

cannot start softload cadence linux

Excelent !!! this works fine for my Debian Etch, Thanks !!!!
in SETUP.SH, there are 3 "tar -xf" commands.

edit the last two to read "tar -Pxf". Note its a capital P. run ./SETUP.SH
