inductive proximity sensor

Can any one help in providing a schematic for an inductive proximity sensor (a npn sensor which could sense upto 4mm)?

Hi,

You may look for TCA105 integrated circuit from Siemens.
It is fairly simple to build one, also this chip is widely used
in Industrial proximity sensors.
Also I remember there was an article in Elektor magazine
some time ago.
