pic24f programmer

Hi, Friends

I have been using ICD2 with PIC16F876A and It's been working for PIC16 and PIC18 series perfectly. I also have a few PIC24FJ32GA002 but my ICD2 is not supported this series because of 3V3. Some of friends on the net say, "We can program with ICD2" but I dont know How?

Please, Can you give me a PIC24F series programmer link?

Advance in thx.

**broken link removed**

they say it can program PIC24

@BlackOps

Thx for link but I know Pickit2.

I'm looking for free programmer.

So long as MPLAB updates the firmware in your ICD2 design all you need to do is pop either a level shifter on the output lines or a few impedance matching resitors, also most modern PIC chips that are in the ICD2 (if its home built) are very tollerant of voltage ranges so you could just add a second voltage regulator with a jumper, OR I think the ICD2 design has a pin that changes for different voltage applications so you could switch it using that (that last point I don't know for sure but Its in my head as being true)

@foxabilo

thank you,

I think , I must buy a pickit2 programmer. It's just 40$ and all of pic series are programed.

pic24h programmer

try this I used it Pic24H and now. dsPic33F.
you only need the small pcb which is the level translator,
I got the info from one of the threads here.

good luck!

pic24f programer download

Hello,
although it seems hard to believe, the first programmer which I had, the “epic” parallel port programmer (from 1998!), is perfectly able to program those pics.
Software here:
hxxp://www.melabs.com/support/progsoft.htm (the beta sofware)
The instructions here:
hxxp://www.melabs.com/support/3v_icsp.htm (section EPIC Parallel Port Programmer)
The circuit/pcb are very easy to find.

best regards

@picnoobie

thx for link

The voltage translator really seems to work. I'll try it. Thank you again.

@elec_gu

I'll try the voltage translator circuit. Thank you

I suggest you to update MPLAB IDE.
Install version 7.61 available for free download.

Hi,
I want to build this little mod to use it with PiCS B ICD2 clone.
I have a question:

What is the different between VCC_T and VCC line?
In the scheme, the VCC line is connected directly to USB +5V; but on the VCC_T signal (VDD in the ICD2) also there are 5V :|?
Why I can't connect together the Pin 3 and the Pin 10 of SV1?

In the Mplab software i can't disable the "Power target circuit from MPLAB ICD2", right?
Thanks all!
Bye ;)

Would you please uplaod the Hex file

hassan1980:
The hex file is the one from PiCS rev B can be found icd2clone.com,
(except for the pin headers and a jumpers, this is the same layout of PiCS')

Kova:
VCC_T is the from the target device which if you use this for Pic24/dsPic33 would
be 3.3v, VCC is the usual 5v. You have to uncheck "Power Target from ICD" in Mplab
if you use this circuit.

Thanks picnoobie for the help :D
So the VCC_T is a voltage (3.3V) that I must supply externally (from the target), right?

yes.

This project needs two micros 16F877 for programing then 18F4550 to communicate via USB, Is it correct?

hassan1980:

Basically yes, look at icd2clone.com, and the other thread for more information.
