modbus communication protocol

HI everybody

I wana make a communications between PLC and one INVERTER , so I need informations about modbus ASCII , I would be pleased if anyone can help me

It is essential to understand modbus protocol.

What is PLC? Inverter?
Look for modbus spec on modbus.org
