hspice can ben used for rf circuits design?

linux rf simulator

It seems good, but I suggest you use spectreRF.

circuits for hspice

Yes. in 2005, Hspice has a new version of HspiceRF. But it is a new version and needs some time to prove it.

Best Regards,
Yibin.

port element hspice

They say in HSPICE 2004 version there are RF functions.
But I can't see how to use it.
Are there any introduction documents?
Thanks!

hspice rf tutorial

How to???
Isn't it that we need to write the command texts?

download hspice

yeah, hspice 2004 or above support hspicerf function
HSPICE RF Overview
HSPICE RF consists of:
• A simulation engine, hspicerf, containing extensions to HSPICE
for RF design. The extensions are in the form of new analysis
commands and new elements.
• A waveform display tool called CosmosScrope (cscope) with
special features for reading and analyzing data created by the
HSPICE RF simulation engine.
This overview section briefly introduces the features of both the
simulation engine and the waveform display tool. The examples that
follow show how these features are used to design RF circuits.
Simulation Engine
The hspicerf simulation engine is used to access HSPICE RF
analysis features. This engine accepts standard HSPICE netlist files
as input, but also processes additional analysis command and
element syntax for new RF simulation features. The following list
summarizes the additional features supported in HSPICE RF:
• .LIN command: invokes extraction of noise and linear transfer
parameters of a multi-port linear network. Extracts the S
parameter and generates the N-port model. This command is
used in conjunction with the .AC command to measure multi-port
S-, Y-, and Z-parameters, noise parameters, stability and gain
factors, and matching coefficients. .LIN is used with the port
element (described below), which identifies the network ports
and their impedances. You can also use mixed mode with .LIN.
• .HB command: invokes the single and multi-tone Harmonic
Balance algorithm for periodic steady state analysis.

HSPICE RF Tutorial HSPICE RF Overview
• .HBOSC command: invokes the single-tone, oscillator-capable
Harmonic Balance algorithm for periodic steady state analysis.
• .HBAC command: invokes periodic AC analysis for analyzing
small-signal perturbations on circuits operating in a large-signal
periodic steady state.
• .HBNOISE command: invokes cyclostationary noise analysis on
circuits operating in a large-signal periodic steady state.
• .PHASENOISE command: invokes phase noise analysis for
oscillators circuits operating in a large-signal steady-state.
• .PRINT/.PROBE extensions: new plot items are supported for
the above analyses.
• Port element: identifies ports used in .LIN analysis (multi-port S/
Y/Z-parameter and noise parameter extraction). A port element
behaves as a noiseless impedance or a voltage source in series
with an impedance, depending on the simulation being
performed. Different impedances can be specified for DC,
transient, AC, HB, and HBAC analyses.
• Power sources: the syntax of voltage and current sources, as well
as port elements, supports a new syntax for specifying power
sources. In this case, the source value is interpreted as a power
value in Watts, and the element is implemented as a voltage
source in series with an impedance.
• HB and HBAC sources: voltage and current sources accept a
new syntax for specifying stimuli for .HB and .HBAC analyses.
• S-element: describes a linear network using multi-port S-, Y-, or
Z-parameters in the form of a frequency table. These parameters
can come from a .LIN simulation or from physical measurement.
The standard Touchstone and CITI formats are supported, in
addition to a proprietary HSPICE format.

flushrat:
thanks very much for your introduction to the hspicerf commands.
However, as we know, hspice commands always require special format.
So, how to use the commands could be an important problem.
Would you mind telling more about the commands?Like some examples?
Or the commans are used as their counterpart for analog simulation?
I mean, is .HBAC just like .ac command and HBNOISE just like .noise command?
Or would you mind send me a copy of the documents about how to use it?
I've search it for some time. But no discovery.-(
Thanks very much.

hspicerf tutorial

hi
i can mail hspice 2004 full user manual for you.
but do you have hspice v2004.09 for linux ?
do you have hspicerf in yuor hspice directory?
i need license for hspicerf or a link for download hspice v2004.09 for linux.
just post a pm and give me a gmail mail address.
because size of it is 13MB.
