How to use VNC to control Linux in window mode?

about vnc

hello everyone , when i use vnc to control linux , it just show me a text mode. I want to work in window mode, what i should do ? thanks.

From which OS you are trying to control a linux machine through vnc ?

Possible you have to configure your Linux XDMCP ( X Display Manager Chooser Program) to allow a graphic connection to the machine. If you get a console at least the VNC server is running.

You can try below setting
/etc/X11/xdm/kdmrc
go to the [XDMCP] section and change enabled=false to enabled=true
Also add port=177 if not already there

/etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf
Same as file above

cd ~/.vnc
vi xstartup

#twm
gnome-session & #If you are using gnome as your desktop environment.

Then,restart vnc by using vncserver.
