how to learn PCB designing and soldering??

dear friends,

i am very much interested in PCB designing and soldering ,as i want to develop some products with pic controller,but many of them are saying soldering is little complicated.

1) any formulas theories etc for designing circuits??
2)how to choose the components needed for pcb designing??
3)what all the precautions to be taken before soldering the boards??

there is SMD and DIP. DIP is much easier. You can get pic already mounted which would make it easier.
