For importing DXf file you also need layer mapping file the there is option in the file menu file import then import the DXF file. And adding required layer mapping layer you can import it
You do not say if your wanting to read the DXF into schematic or PCB?
Have you a DXF viewer/editing program?
Open the DXF and check what layers your items are on.
If you have auto cad etc ensure that your items are plain figures and not blocks.
File\New & select your technology type.
Use File\Import File select format to be DXF, browse to choose your DXF file.
Create map, import list of layers from dxf file - browse to your dxf.
select your units, if you do not have a specific board outline or components in the DXF you can untick them.
Delete the "DXFTRANSFER" attribute if your not using that.
If your DXF contains figure that represent molding or board outlines go to the "Figures" tab.
Select the layer in Cadstar you want them on, select thelayer in the DXF they are on, if any cutouts elect the layer they are on - if no cutouts select none.
Select "add" to add that layer mapping.
do that for anything else I.E. other figure layers, text etc.
click OK & read it in.
