I have collected the received signal strength in dBm in a range within -25 to -110, which is transmitted by a GSM base station with a channel scanner. I want to find out the channel fading based on these signal measurements.
The steps that I take into account are as follows:
adding the path loss to the measurements (lognormal path loss equation)
creating the histogram based on the measurements
fitting Nakagami distribution on the histogram and finding fading parameter
It seems the step that I haven't considered is converting dbm to voltage. However, by converting dBm values to voltage by using voltage = 10.^(dBm/20), my distribution changed to a lognormal. I am looking for any other distribution like, nakagami, rayleigh, or rician.
What are the correct steps of obtaining the channel propagation from my signal measurements in dBm.
