How to differentiate b/w VA and watts???

It is written as 2000VA / 1200w on a UPS what does it means? What’s the relationship b/w VA and watts? How to calculate the wattage from VA? What r their formulas?
 

VA = voltage × current;
watts = Voltage × Current × Power factor

What’s the relationship b/w VA and watts?

VA = active power (watts) + reactive powwer (var)

VA is usually use S as representative symbol

How to calculate the wattage from VA? What r their formulas?

S= VI

P (watts) = S cos Θ
Q (Var) = S sin Θ

so you need a power factor or XR ratio to obtain wattage from S.

From the detail u gave.. you can also the the power factor of the uPS using equation that I mentioned above.

Watts= Power Consumed by Resistive Elements in form of Heat
Var = Power Consumption due to Reactive Elements Such as Capacitor & Inductor

VA= VAR+ Watt

Total Power/Complex Power = VA

VA = Active power measured in Watts (due to resistive loads) + Reactive power measured in VAR (due to capacitive or inductive loads)

2. How to calculate the wattage from VA? What r their formulas?

P = S cos Θ (W)
Q = S sin Θ (VAR)
