Am still a newbie with networking, undergoing a CCNA program now though. Is it possible to connect to a remote PC from mine. Without knowing the other PC's password
Its called hacking or regular usage of PC services, such netbios sharing, web, ftp, telnet,... also there is anonimous access not all access based on passwords, in bigger networks like companies intranets is based on account rules.

okay please explain better what i actually have in mind is this. i have two systems of mine connected to the internet from my ISP. if i disable my file sharing can i connect to the other PC.
Like i mention over telnet, web,... when you stop file sharing its just for NETBIOS access. If you have trojans inside your Windows OS is just like some Disco Club or public library from remote users. :-D

For basic measures you should have some firewall and antivirus, or both together, such as NOD32 5 Smart Security. Dont use free or trial versions, thez usually cant remove viruses when they find them. Use only good tested and certified protection softwares.
