How to choose a process for a design

Hi All,

Choise of a process would depend on what all factors?
I am sure the what we are designing would be most basic, along with electrical parameters for that design.
Assume if we need to design in weak inversion i.e ultral low power design how would one start?

one is wat I/O level needed in the design.

digital/analog domain?

cost is a important factor,especially in consumable ICs

try to go for matured processes e.g. 0.18 where process variants are pretty much in control by the fab.

Check for the process parameters like supply voltage, ft and then check the cost of the process. If you can achieve your design requirement with low ft process, then no necessary for going to high cost process, with help of bandwidth extension method and so on.

depending up on the cost factor set a target and select the features that u want in the design

if cost is not a matter then go for good specs
