how to check or condition in ifdef?

or condition in ifdef

Can anyone tell me how to check or condition in Ifdef statement?
I am trying
`ifdef (a || b)
but it is not working?
 

`ifdef

write:
#if defined (a) || defined (b)
Don't trust compiler manuals which say that your version is also OK :-(

should i write like
`ifdef (a) || `ifdef (b)
