How to calculate filter coefficients ?

hi
i want to know how to calculate filter coefficients(e.g.FIR). Is there any algorithms for that.if i have to make low pass FIR filter, and i know the cut off frequency the how this can be used to calculate Filter coefficient of FIR filter.

suggest me any link or books regading this.

you can use MATLAB FDA tool. It is very useful.

yah, as turkelb, has said.
use MatLab Filter Design and Analysis tool. all you have to do is specify the cut-off frequency and if you want the filter order, and the tool will calculate the coefficients and you can export them to a coe file.
