how to buy a transformer

Hi,

I always have interested in making those
small switching circuits for AC-DC.
Very often, the circuits requires 3 coil windings
coupled together with a specific number of turns.
I find it very unique.

I believe there must be some industrial standard
component value, like what we get for resistor & inductor.
Are those small transformer available as a standard.
If not, what would be the approach to source for such
a delicate component.
How would you normally purchase such a part.

Thank you for your guidance.

Normally, these components are custom designed and manufactured. However, some manufacturers of inductive components have standard types of small off-mains SMPS transformers, e.g. coilcraft or Wuerth You may find them also at catalog distributors.
