How the name source follower come out?

i think it's as it's gain equals nearly one so source voltage follows gate voltage

The first use was cathode follower. Then there was the emitter follower.

To keep the Bias current constant the Vgs has to remain the same. So the source voltage keeps up (follows) the gate voltage. This is not always true if we take into consideration the body effect - change in Vth as the Vsb not equal to 0

following the source...

b/c common-drain doesnt flow well

Anyone tells me why ppl call source follower

i think maybe source is at the same phase as gate. that why it is source follower.
