I was trying to understand that, how slotting increases the resistance against electromigration . But I found a new term "grain size", can any one tell me that what is grain size. I found this term in the underlying para:

If you reduce wire width to below the average grain size of the wire material, the resistance to electromigration increases, despite an increase in current density. This apparent contradiction is caused by the position of the grain boundaries, which in such narrow wires as in a bamboo structure lie perpendicular to the
width of the whole wire.

It will be more helpful if you can tell me how metal slotting increases resistance against metal slotting.

Thanx.

how metal slotting increases resistance against metal slotting.
... because further metal slotting would interrupt the connection
SCNR!

:!: Thanx for the help.....but can u elaborate it a little.....and what is the "grain size".
