If I am not wrong, a RISC or CISC processor will have ALU whereas the DSP will have Multiply accumulate store (MACS). The MACS will help in doing the signal processing faster.
There was a discussion about this in the forums and one poster who had a lot of time on his hands.
RISC and CISC are machine code characteristics of the processor. RISC is more commonly found in microcontrollers and CISC in microprocessors. Both types of devices can have a DSP module integrated which is dedicated to managing complex mathematical operations and analysis of AD and DA types of operations.
Hi
Risc and Cisc is the architecture of a processor. that is a processor's architecture is based on risc or cisc technology. in risc all part of the processor is hardwired but in cisc ther is a micro programmed memory which used in decoding the instructions. most of the microcontrollers and DSPs are based on Risc.
