How does a read and write control work in SRAM

1) on this diagram when read is high, it will pull the bit line to high. How does register as a read?

2) on write , and let's say /D is high that will pull the bit line low.

On both case, where does the bit line go?
seems like its either pull up or pull down.
I don't see bit line being present to an output.
 

Hi,
In the diagram that you have attached ,there is no read circuitary.
to read the data from sram , we use sense amplifiers (differential amplifier).
bit lines will be given as input to sense amp.
the output of sense amp will be your dout
