How does a capacitor charges and discharges?

hi

the capacitor charges or discharges according to the following equation.

Ic = C dv/dt

Ic is the current flowing through the capacitor.
C is the capacitance.
v is the instantaneous voltage across the capacitor.

using the dilectric in the capacitor , it gets charged and discharged....
 

Capacitor

capacitor chargers when you apply voltage across it and discharges when you remove supply voltage.
