How do we decide the Polynomial equation of the LFSR and its seed?

hi guys,

I knw how to implement the RNG using the LFSR, but may I know the theory behind these 2 ...
1. How do we decide the Polynomial equation of the LFSR?
2. How do I determine the seed of the polynomial function of the LFSR

And as I remember there's no kind of LFSR's XOR method... Can someone discuss over here? Please advise..
