Free space loss formula is given by: Loss(db) = 32.4 +20 log(d)+20log(f)
where

d is the distance between transmitter and receiver given in Km
f is the frequency given in MHz

This is just the free space loss if you are interested in the complete model, consult Rappaport book.

Regards

it's also can be calculated as following, am I right?

Path Loss (db) = 92.45 + 20 log(d) + 20log(f)

where

d is the distance between transmitter and receiver given in Km
f is the frequency given in GHz

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you.

Re: Free Space path loss

I was wondering if you could help me . I am simulating a processed (carrying info) time domain signal which travels like 900m away to a receiver. I want the received signal to be effected by pathloss in time domain, how can i do that. its a very simple question , i am using matlab
