How can I read a program from PIC controller if it`s codeprotected???

I`ve got a brenner 8 programmer and in the software for writing to the chips there is an option "remove CP". What will happen if I use this??? Is it going to clear the chip???

Not sure. It sounds suspiciously like you are trying to copy somebody else's chip...

If it was that simple, then people would not bother with code protection and there would be no point of the manufacturers putting it there.

Of course everything is possible !!! But this is not job for you, this must be done by pro.

Break Ac break-ic.com Website Reviews and Testimonials (www break-ic com)

Now when I try to open their site I got nothing just redirection,.... maybe they got police on door, like escort to hotel, who knows.

I have heard of it been done, the chip casing has to be destroyed to get at the silicon and then the correct areas masked before being exposed to UV. Like you said a job for the pro, with the correct knowledge.

Maybe they changing domain name and cant find apropriate domain.
Meybe they get some job offer from manufacturers, who will know.

They extract HEX from lots uC. They say from everything.

They request one-two blank uC and two original protected.

I`ve seen such suggestions like opening the chip and correnting, but I don`t think it worth the time. I`m a creater. I create programs for controllers and for me it`s more simple to create my own program as to pray with the chip an to have anknow result.
In this case I asked about that because I need a password safed on microcontroller, but i think it would be easier to break the communication with the chip as the extract the program.
Thanks a lot!

...I need a password safed on microcontroller...

uC is protected or not ? Do you need just to extract some data from eeprom or uC data ?

Protected uC can be erased, and reprogrammed with new firmware, but if you try to read you will get lines of zeros.
Be careful with that or you can lose firmware.

Of course there is chance to catch password communication of uC with other part, but you must know does password is send or not.

Maybe password not sended nowhere, he stay in uC, and uC just accept external data with password compares it and do some work. In that case you must generate password combinations, on input of uC, but you must know format and type of data, monitor uC after accepting some data and uC reaction on that, its huge huge job.... with PC data analyzing software.

You didnt specify more info about device. Is it door keypad, or something else, or some iButton lock, usb/rs232 pc dongle for some pc software,.....

Everything is possible why not.

This contoller is set on a small board with quarts, caps and resistor for MCRL. This small chart is connect with the PC with USB and unlocks a software program.

Its hard lock / usb dongle!!!

This is done in software, no need to workd on dongle. "Work" :) should be based on software, in section where software check dongle......

I should not post this material here, I will send you on PM some "learning material".
