suggest how to start with design of successive approx. ADC design and how many bits of resolution can i achieve thru it?????
if any good study material available then do tell .

Re: SAR ADC design

tou can not achieve very high resolution adc due to mismatches in the dac
resistances here is some material

SAR ADC design

Capacitors are preferred as they are easily fabricated as compared to the resistors... And it is only the capacitor ratios that is important in the charge redistribution DAC, hence layout is done accordingly.

Re: SAR ADC design

BUT STILL YOU CAN NOT HAVE JIGH RESOLUTION ADC WITH HIGH SPEED
BECAUSE YOU MAKE N COMPARASONS

SAR ADC design

SARs can be quite high resolution (>16bits) but are typically slow. They can also be extremely power efficient.

Re: SAR ADC design

how can be quite high resolution (>16bits)

Re: SAR ADC design

you can yse piplinimg or time interleaving

SAR ADC design

if i use piplining it will not be sar adc

SAR ADC design

SAR ADCs with speeds of 50MSPS at 10bits have been acheieved. There is a paper in this years ISSCC from IMEC. This has the best figure of merit also.

SAR ADC design

here is a tutorial from MAXIM on SAR ADC, and comparison with other ADCs

**broken link removed**

SAR ADC design

you can have more than 50M sar adc
