Hi. I'm have just started using HFSS and I'm trying to find S-parameters of a resonator. The catch is that the cavity where the resonator is placed now has a probe inserted in it. In theory I understand that inserting a probe at a particular distance and angle from the resonator would excite certain modes. My question is, for HFSS do I provide excitation to the probe or resonator? I think I should provide excitation to the probe just because theoretically we say that the probe is used for exciting modes in the resonator. Also, there are all these different types of excitation in HFSS, how do I know which one to use? I want to find one port S-parameters. Thank you for your help. Have a nice day.
