soc encounter stop on error

After I installed soc3.3, and configed the envirenment, I ran bg_shell, it displayed the following error information
==> ERROR: An unrecoverable exception has occurred (SEGV).
--> Info: Attempting to save database in '/tmp/ac_shell-crash-5868.adb'...
==> ERROR: An unrecoverable internal error occurred (SEGV); exiting ...
but I can run bgx_shell
When I run encounter, it displayed the following error information
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
and the information when running astro is same as when running encounter
Can anyone help me to solve it?

which linux version r u using ?
did u install all tools sucessully?

I am sorry I forgot to provide my envirenment information
My system is linux9.0, the kernel version is 2.4.20-8, my encounter version is 3.1
I install astro using Synopsys Installer. After the installation, the tools has not error message about it, so I think I have installed it succefully

only problem due to REDHAT 9.0
change ur version to 7.3 or 8.0 or RHEL (enterprise edition) 3 or 4.0.
every think will work fine

but for astrorail2004,is the reason also the version problem? And the readme file does not indicate any information about os version, sigh

How to upgrade Linux from RedHat to RHEL?

when u install itself it will ask for upgration.
boot from cdrom1.then follow upgradation procedure

After I installed it, can I upgrade to RHEL yet?
