Is there a direct measurement setup or method for the power consumed by an ASIC without resorting to software tools or benchmarking tools that can provide pretty accurate results? I am currently trying to map the power consumptions in the main card, and the Digital ASIC (which has two supply rails 3.3V and 1.2V and contains the core processor) and two analog ASICs among the components in the main card. Can this method be applied to other ICs in the board? Help!

As far as I know, trying to measuer ASIC power consumption needs a certain type of software...

AFAIK there is no a direct way to measure the power consumed by ASIC. Instead you need some software tools like Synopsys Power Compiler/PrimePower.

How about the tools like power theatre, power mill etc?

Can u be a little more concise on what ur query is?
