help needed in making a spy ear circuit!!!

i am thinking of making a spy ear circuit. On searching i got the following circuit diagram. Will any one of u tell me if it would be a good option?
also how can i ensure that the circuit would work perfectly? i tried the circuit on a bread board. but i did not get any output... pls do help me....

This is somewhat a hearing aid circuit. Earphone should have high impedance. Normal 8 ohm will not work. If you can get ear piece of hearing aid, that will work good. It is not wireless.
