I have read most of the cnc machine posts in the forum and found nothing interesting or easy to follow.

For small quantity or prototyping maybe you can try: "Printed Circuit Board Milling using Computer Numerical Control"

i think it can be done wiht no more than three stepper motors , screws and the necessary control circuits
