eCos is widely being used as an embedded OS, hence its future course of work is magnanimous. It supports processors like: ARM (including Intel Xscale IX425), Intel x86 and IA32, MIPS, Motorola PowerPC (including the MPC74xx G4 processors), Motorola 68k / Coldfire, Sun SPARC, Renesas H8/300H, SuperH, NEC V850, Fujitsu FRV, Matsushita AM3x, Samsung CalmRISC, and more being added regularly. It has been used in many COMMERCIAL products including:

• Automotive Industry • Image Capture and Processing
• Management systems – GM • Mobil phones
• Security systems – Volvo, Ford • 3G Labs
• Multimedia and Productivity • FALCOM Gmbh
• Delphi Automotive • Rio Karma
• BootStrap Fimware • Iomega HipZip
• Intel • Device Servers (Control)
• Data logging • Network Cameras
• Comtrol and Charmed Labs • Power Line Carriers – ASCOM
• Fingerprint and Retina ID systems • Routers
• Gaming • Photoframes - Cieva
• Gameboy Advance – Charmed Labs • Printers – Brother, Epson
• GPS • Radar Arrays - Research
• Networking • RAID systems – CrosStor
• Real-time control • Robotics – Charmed Labs
• Satellite systems • Ground Control Stations
• Pico Satellites – DTUsat • Terminal Servers
• Device Master – Control • Video, Audio and MPEG – Sun

As can be clearly seen there is widespread use of eCos and its increasing day by day.
