hello,

i have 3 OS , windows (Xp, NT, and redhat LInux)

Linux is showing the same disk usage of windows with some additional disk of 81 GB , from where does this additional 81 GB comes when windows is showing only

c- 9.75 Gb
D-9.75 GB
E-9.75 Gb

thanks,
Prasad

Linux partitions are normally hidden in windows. It's probably that partition that Linux reports as the additional 81Gb.

type
Code:
df -m
in a shell prompt and paste the output here if you still have questions.

here is the disk usage showed by linux........

The additional 81GB is partioned as linux partions. In Windows, you can find these partions in disk manager:
Run "diskmgmt.msc" from "Start Menu -> Run ..."

in windows xp, to view the total partition structure, go to

control panel--> Administrative Tools-->computer management-->storage-->disk management.
or
try commercial softwares like powerquest partition magic etc.

I hope that ur filesystem is not NTFS. Usually old distro that use old ntfs module could detect the size in wrong number. Try to install newest kernel module.

You may try qtparted, cfdsik, fdisk or sfdisk
