Hi i am new to Microcontroller field, currently i face a hard choice between ATMEga8 and PIC16F877A controller.

i had a project that need to design "Handheld 2.4 GHz Spectrum Analyzer", (reference: **broken link removed** ). My lecturer want me to complete this project with some modification.

1. i wish to change the ATMega8 microcontroller by using PIC16F877A.
propose: i can learn more type of microcontroller. (lecturer suggested)

Question 1:
The website is provide me with ATMega8 c coding (https://1010.co.uk/spectrumtest.c) , so i need to convert the coding in pic coding manually or there is converter in market?
(currently i am study the syntax and command for ATMega8, i wish to master the code , then only transfer the code to PIC c coding, my step is correct?)

Question 2:
Can i just replace the ATMEga8 with PIC16F877A directly? i just worried that PIC 16F877A not support in this project.
(PIC16f877a with PCD8544 - YouTube , this is the link that i get from youtube, it show me that PIC 16F877A is support for LCD Nokia 3310 (PCD8544) .)

kindly provide some idea to continue and comment my current step is correct or not.
thanks a lot.
