Hi all,

I am in senior design I for EE major right now. I am in charge of researching and buying parts for our a GSM and MCU. Our project is a small base with wheels that once activated (from any location in a house, by a push of a button), will send a sms to a phone number to notify the person that the "wheel cart" is being activated.
I am still in the research phase right now and I need to get a lot of reading done to get this started since communication is not my track. Could you please give me some insight and point me to the right direction. Is it possible to just have a GSM module with a MCU without an OS?

Thank you so much in advance!
