getting past port number issues

Hi guys, happy new month to you. Please what do you do when you yahoo messenger has been blocked or not working. Is possible to work on port number? If so how?

First make sure you know what is doing the "blocking." Do you have firewall software on the system, what type of router is implemented on you LAN or is there a firewall installed at the gateway? What has change since you last remember it functioning? If you can give specifics on what type of hardware and software are in play, I maybe able to assist you.
