General equation describing the charges in a capacitor

kind of elementary question, anyways what is the most basic/general equation describing the charges in a capacitor, is it
dq=C*dV
or dq=C*dV+V*dC

any reference will be great.

delta_Q=C * delta_V
Q=C*V=C*delta_V+C*V0
