Why does function generators have a Sweeping parameters?

What are the sweeping parameters used for?

What are some sweeping patterns? Linear, Log , Exp. what other ones?

How do i turn a Linear sweep circuit into a Log sweep circuit?
what would be the difference?

It is used to plot the frequency response of filters on an osciloscope in a X-Y mode
For example the function generator is set to sweep from 0 to 20 kHz.
The sweep signal ( ramp) is fed into the X channel of the scope, the out put of the filter is fed into the Y channel of the scope via an envelope detector.
The scope will display the frequency response of the filter

How would i test a EQ's circuit using a function generators sweeps? linear sweeps or log sweeps?

The function generators sweep output goes in the EQ circuit and the oscilloscope on the output of the EQ

How to test the EQ's or a preamps frequency response using the function generators sweeping?
