The question is unclear.
Resistive load only or partially capacitive/inductive load?
Average/rms current over the repetition of a waveform or instantaneous current?
If you have a resistive load then when the voltage goes up the current goes up,
if you want a fixed instantaneous current then the voltage must stay the same,
not be a varying waveform.
If your waveform has a fast rising or falling edge and your load is
capacitive then limiting the current means the voltage has to rise slowly
so your waveform will be different.
