For both inverting and non inverting configuration, gain depends upon feedback resistance.

What is the reason behind this? How its related?.

No - the gain depends on the RATIO of both resistors in the feedback path.
The reason: Negative feedback.
If you like to learn more about opamp applications it is useful/necessary to study the effect of FEEDBACK.
