Hi,
Can anyone please explain the major differences between extraction short and LVS short in physical design?

Thanks in advance

We call extraction shorts as layout shorts. Layout shorts are PG Shorts and port-to-port shorts, whereas lvs shorts include all types of shorts like PG, signal, and clock shorts. It is good practice to first clean up all layout/extraction shorts and then to check for LVS issues otherwise the LVS report will pop up lots of violations and are difficult to debug.
