Hi All,

Could anyone please explain me about annular ring in PCB layout?

Thanks in advance.

Raj

Annular Ring

AR = (padsize - drillsize) /2.

The amount of copper left as a pad after you drill a hole in it.

Remember when talking about plated holes you also have a drilled hole size that is a bit bigger than your finished plated hole size that was specified.

you need to find this out from your pcb manufacturer what it is & what the AR requirements are.

If the annular ring is too small then your board will likely get rejected as it causes manufacturing problems.

Re: Annular Ring

Can anyone tell me wot is annular ring
a) it is the copper platting deposited after drilling, means copper inside the drill.
b) it is the copper outside the drill.
Thanks in advance, please mail me at kumm@hotmail.com

Annular Ring

The above definition and diagram are explained cleanly.

It is the copper pad outside the drill to get a connectivity from the routed traces.

The Min. annular ring size is to be 6 mils.
