Equalization Problem: Where to start from?

Hi All

Where should one start from if one wants to address "equalization problem".......Equalization is required to compensate for channel distortion so i guess one should first select the channel model ...... come up with channel impulse response and look for relationship between the noise added by the channel and the ISI caused by the channel.....

You have to estimate the channel first then equalize it, many algorithm already exist: ZF, MMSE, DFE, ..etc
