Embedded tcp/ip

I need to get information about bulding a tcp/ip net with embedded controllers through PSTN. I have the IP modem but I do not know how to do the data exchange protocol in it.
Is there any standard solution? (better than simple FTP and SMTP)
Thanks for information.

Please check the sample www.keil.com

Maybe the example will be in ST166 part.

Please check....

maybe information at w*w*w.*rabbitsemiconductor.com may be helpful... maybe still the web kit of www.atmel.com

I'm studying this solution too.

in my idea...

The microcontroller connect to modem by serial (RS232) to control the modem
for dial to ISP., then connected to internet.
(We known as "dial-up networking" in Windows)

thus, this must be use PPP or SLIP.

There are many ebook in this forum.
