Electrolytic capacitors in power supplies that are stored for long periods

sorry but leakage does flow through the capacitor, as a persistent DC current, and it does not charge up the capacitor. Remember that leakage current is DC and happens in all electrolytic capacitors...as you know, it does not result in them charging ever higher.
 

I guess calculations related 85mA is incorrect. Page 18 (epcos literature) says about 100 times of normal leakage current. You multiplied 0.85mA by 100 and got 85mA. According to nichicon datasheet 0.85mA (0.04CV+100uA, where C=47uF and V=400V) is not normal leakage current. Nichicon gurantees that after one minute leakage current will be less than 0.85mA. To get an idea about normal leakage current you may see the calculation related Ileak,op on page 17 (epcos literature).
