Hi Friends,

In Electrical machines we attach a brakedrum on the shaft. My question here is why should not we lengthen the shaft and attach another brakedrum at the back also? Will there be any losses or constructional difficulties?

it is gonna add more weight and more equipment plus given the fact that you have to split the pressure and give it to both brakedrum....

Hi Anand,

Could you explain it furthur:?:

once you add more brakedrum it means that they have to act at the same time increasing the friction but the main problem would be that you have to activate them at same time and hence you have to have a separate system which divides the force given while u apply push the foot lever and give to the different brakedrum....
