Hi Guys,

What is the advantages of implementing a function let say for example a multiplication function using DSP48 (in virtex family) over using normal FPGA gates?

Cheers

Hadi

As the built-in DSP48 slices have already a multiplication function inside it using this multiplication does not cost LUTs so you have more space for your other functions. Depending on the multiplication size they maybe faster than using normal LUTs.
