DSP core project , I need some advise

I has a thesis that i am required using VHDL to wrtie DSP core on FPGA !
I intend to use TSM320C25 architecture for my project but i need some meterial in advance on DSP architecture and Intruction GUild.
I know it's exits a book on DSP architecure is "DSP Processor Fundamentals : Architectures and Features (IEEE Press Series on Signal Processing)".
Any body give me some advise and support to me this material or some similar thing

i am also doing something similar though not as complex... i am trying to code specifically for DSP implementations for music processing... any help will be greatly appreciated...
