Dropping 12vdc to 9vdc using an adaptor

please help me to settle this problem, i need to drop 12vdc by using adaptor to 9vdc . i need to connect 12vdc to the relay 12v and the same time i must connect 7vdc to display.by using one adaptor.

Hi, i think you need to used regulators to get this output 78xxx.

You can always connect several diodes (eg. 1N4002) in series and drop some volts that way ..
Each diode can be "worth" roughly 0.7V .. see attached picture ..

12vdc drop to 9vdc

You may also consider using LM317 regulators where you may vary any volatege from 1.2 to 3 volts lesser than your inward supply. Refer the datasheet for more details.

You can also try DC-DC circuit.
